Front Desk Staff Checklist

  1. Check for Student Type and Major to match with appropriate counselor or Meta Major counselor
  2. New Students - is ORI completed prior to the appointment request? If student marked "No," see below for suggested messaging to copy/send
  3. Concurrent Students should be scheduled to meet with Suzanne Poma
  4. Major Confidence Level -  If student check-mark "mid-" or "not confident," note "Explorer" in SARs Appointment Comments to inform the counselor
  5. Email Confirmation - Check that the email in the SARs Student Appointment Screen matches the email indicated on the intake form
  6. To check Notification options, refer to the SARs appointment screen:

Orientation 

Please complete the New Student Orientation before you meet with your counselor. To access the New Student Orientation, follow these steps: 

  • Go to www.websmart.smccd.edu
  • Go to the top of the page and click on the Student tab
  • Click on Student Online Orientation
  • Click on Start Orientation
  • Complete each section of the Orientation – keep in mind as you go through there will be knowledge check quizzes. You will also complete MyMajors Assessment.
  • Print a copy of the Orientation certificate as proof of completing Orientation. Click on Print This Page.
